About the Role
As Team Leader for Way Forward, you will provide positive leadership and management while demonstrating and evidencing the following;
- Leading and managing the team to ensure safe and effective provision of support to those people who use the service through the promotion of outcomes focused person centred approaches.
- Reporting and evaluating of operational service delivery demonstrating delivery and development.
- Experience of establishing effective partnerships with key stakeholders.
- Effective and efficient management of all resources.
- Contributing to the wider work of SAMH to support the achievement of SAMH strategic objectives.
This is an exciting opportunity for a Team Leader to join the teams at Way Forward which provide Care at Home and Housing Support. The Way Forward delivers from two sites based in the Broomhill and Govan areas of Glasgow. The Team Leader will provide direction and guidance to a team supporting individuals within individual flats and their communities to improve their mental health and wellbeing. Way Forward supports people with complex mental health issues in all aspects of their day-to-day living offering emotional and practical support to encourage them to live fulfilled and meaningful lives. Working with service users to define their own support plans the Team Leader will coordinate, evaluate and review this support while providing mentorship to Practitioners.
The Team Leader will support Way Forward with the aim of the service to provide accommodation to service users assessed as requiring intensive support with levels of physical care, personal finances, personal and domiciliary hygiene and ongoing compliance with their care and support package. We also aim for service users to resettle within the community and work towards sustainable solutions in response to multiple and complex need.
The Team Leader will have full line management responsibility for staff across the service. They will report directly to the Service Manager and be responsible for the implementation of, and adherence to, all SAMH policies and procedures. Experience in the areas of managing and developing teams and working across sectors is also desirable.
What we are looking for
To be successful in this post you will meet the essential criteria, core competencies behaviour and skills listed in the role profile and be able to demonstrate a proven track record of delivering outcomes for vulnerable adults with knowledge and experience of working in the field of mental health and wellbeing.
The service operates 7 days a week throughout the year and includes sleepovers, however flexibility will be required as the post may require some occasional evening and weekend work to meet the needs of the service and those we support.
The post will involve travel across various locations in Glasgow so a full driving licence and access to your own vehicle is essential.

As Team Leader you will typically be Mon-Fri, however there may be a requirement to work some weekends, sleepovers and participate in the ‘on call’ rota.
