Our vibrant and dynamic service comprising of one team who provides complex support alongside vocational opportunities to adults with physical and learning disabilities at our hub and out in community settings.


The Role


With an aim to enabling the people we support to live a fulfilling and valued life, you'll be part of a supportive, friendly team who provide person led, holistic support to adults with physical disabilities, learning disabilities and complex support needs both at our HUB and out in the local community. Our Connects Hub provide complex support to individuals who come to our building as well as encouraging and enabling community connectedness.


As a Support Practitioner, you'll be involved in a mixture of organised group activities which are based both at our HUB and out and about within the community and 1:1 complex and shared support. The great thing about this job is that no two days are the same, there's never a dull moment and there's always lots going on.

The people we support are fun loving and enjoy being out and about, you will support them to be involved in their community, and participate in their hobbies and interests, which include watching the rugby, football and wrestling, keeping fit, going swimming, iMuse therapy, knitting, gardening and cooking. Our aim is to enable the people we support to live a fulfilling and valued life, where they can achieve their own personal goals and aspirations. You will take an active role in the planning and delivery of person-centred care and encourage the people we support to express their views and wishes within their personal plan, which you will keep up to date and relevant.

About you


You don't need experience as a Support Worker or Carer to join Cornerstone. We recruit on values and transferrable skills, we're more interested in what you as a person will bring to our team. We'll pay you for your training and will even fund your SVQ (SCQF level 6/7) and yearly SSSC registration fees too!


All we’ll need you to bring is:-

  • A caring and compassionate attitude
  • The ability to work well in a team
  • Good communication and organisational skills
  • A positive attitude with a willingness to learn
  • Confidence to go in the water as swimming is one of our regular activities
  • The ability and confidence to use computers

It would great if you also hold a full, clean UK driving license as our service does own some mobility cars, but this isn't a deal breaker for the right candidates.


Shift Patterns


Currently, for these opportunities, shift patterns usually fall within the hours of 0800-1800 hours Monday-Friday. However, as our service grows we will providing occasional evening and weekend support, so will need you to bring an element of flexibility and willingness to work across all shift patterns when needed. We are working towards providing some evening and weekend opportunities too!

Successful candidates will be required to join the Protection of Vulnerable Groups Scheme and be committed to working towards an SVQ in Social Services and Healthcare with the support from our Training Academy. If you’re successful in joining our team, we will need you to register with the SSSC within 3 months of starting your employment with us.
