The Richmond Fellowship Scotland makes a real difference in supporting people with their everyday lives. We have an exciting opportunity to join our Glasgow South Central Housing Support service as Support Practitioner on a full-time basis (39 hours per week).
You don’t need previous experience in care to join our team as a Support Practitioner as we recruit on values and transferable skills. We provide full training along with the opportunity for you to complete your SVQ.
Due to the nature of this role, we can only consider male applicants. A driving licence is preferred but not essential.
The role:
Our Glasgow South Central Housing Support service supports individuals in the Pollock and Govan area, both within their own residential properties and in a core building. We support individuals on an outcome-based programme which will see them grow in confidence and learn life skills to increase their independence. You’ll take an active interest in their hobbies with include going out for walks and to their social clubs, volunteering and shopping. With your help, you’ll enable the individuals to explore new opportunities and reduce social isolation.
As a Support Practitioner you will assist with all aspects of daily living including support with personal finances, prompts with medication and personal care, going to appointments and activities along with emotional and social support. We support individuals on an outcome-based programme which will see them grow in confidence and learn life skills to increase their independence. You’ll take an active interest in their hobbies with include going out for walks and to their social clubs, volunteering and shopping. With your help. You’ll enable the individuals to explore new opportunities and reduce social isolation.
To be an amazing Support Practitioner, we’ll need you to:
- Have an empathetic and caring nature
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- IT literate
- Be able to work well in a team environment and on your own
- Good organisational skills
Shift Patterns:
Our dedicated team provide tailored support 24/7 and shift patterns include working days, evenings, sleepovers, weekends and bank/public holidays.
The sleepover part of your shift is not included in your contracted hours so for every sleepover you cover you will be paid an additional £99.20.
