This position is based in Tagsa Uibhist’s office in East Camp, Balivanich, Isle of Benbecula.
The rate of pay is £17.74 per hour for 30 hours per week. This is an annual salary of £27,674.40.
Tagsa Uibhist contributes 5% employer’s pension monthly via the People’s Pension.
Job Purpose:
Reporting to the Chief Executive, the Finance Manager ensures effective and efficient internal financial management to support the activities and development of Tagsa Uibhist. The Finance Manager is responsible for managing project and departmental budgets, statutory accounts, and reporting. The Finance Manager provides financial information and analysis to guide the Chief Executive Officer and the Board of Directors to make sound financial decisions in the long and short term. The role is part of Tagsa Uibhist’s management team and the Finance Manager provides support to other members of the team with respect to the financial management of their respective departments.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Monitor day-to-day financial operations within Tagsa Uibhist, such as payroll, purchase requests, invoicing, petty cash, and other transactions.
- Monitor and report on Tagsa Uibhist’s overall financial status and performance and provide analysis to identify areas for potential improvement.
- Put in place methods for minimising financial risk to Tagsa Uibhist and support managers to deliver cost effective services.
- Provide budget versus actual reports at project level to managers and the CEO as and when required to aid in long-term and short-term decision making.
- Prepare financial reports for specific donors as required.
- Support managers to allocate expenditure to the correct grant, income stream or account.
- Support managers to create project budgets.
- Review financial data and prepare monthly and annual reports.
- Maintain up to date and complete finance files.
- Present financial reports to directors in regular meetings.
- Establish and maintain financial policies and procedures for Tagsa Uibhist.
- Ensure that Tagsa Uibhist adheres to financial regulations and legislation.
- Support the CEO and Directors to contract outside services for audits, accounting, banking, investments, and other financial needs, as necessary.
- Provide support with Human Resource functions such as annual leave management and recruitment.
Skills, Experience and Qualifications:
§ Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to communicate with a range of people using a variety of communication methods.
§ Degree in accounting, business, economics, finance, or a related field.
§ Several years of experience in a finance role.
§ Understanding of data privacy standards.
§ Understanding of business principles and practices.
§ Analytical skills and critical thinking skills.
§ Intermediate to advanced competence with Microsoft Excel.
§ Competence with other Microsoft applications, including SharePoint.
§ Numerical skills for managing budgets.
§ An understanding of accountability to ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
§ Leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate others.
§ The capacity to work under pressure and to take a problem-solving approach to work.
§ Effective organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise workload.
