B.A.S.I.C. AND CORNER HOUSE NURSERY SCIO
CHILDCARE PRACTITIONER
B.A.S.I.C. and Corner House Nursery are seeking a qualified Childcare Practitioner to work in their nursery. The post offered is full time, 35 hours (approximately per week).
Hours of work: Monday-Friday 8.30 am-3.30 pm (term time)
Key Responsibilities:
- Respond to children’s individual needs with kindness, sensitivity, and patience.
- Provide pastoral care and support to children within a secure learning environment.
- Deliver play and learning experiences for children both indoors and outdoors.
- Support children’s curiosity and knowledge
- Inspire and enthuse children to develop a love of learning.
- Ensure knowledge of best practice remains up to date.
- Contribute to the ongoing development of the service.
- Observe and record child’s progress.
- Develop partnerships with parents/carers to increase involvement in their child’s learning.
- Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills and be an effective team member.
- Implement daily routines and practices.
- Attend staff meetings and staff training when required.
- Ensure exceptional standards of daily care with regard to children’s physical, emotional and intellectual development and keep relevant records up to date.
- Ensure early years curriculum knowledge is sound and be familiar with all current early year’s documents.
- Contribute to ongoing quality monitoring and planning for improvement.
- Undertake other duties as requested from time to time by the manager
JOB SPECIFICATION
Qualifications required:
Essential: Candidate must be qualified to SVQ 3 or equivalent.
Desirable: SSSC registration or meet criteria to register.
Experience Experience of working with children age 2 to not yet attending school.
Professional and Curriculum development:
An awareness of current developments in early year’s education.
Desirable: Evidence of involvement in relevant professional development.
Personal Skills: Have a high level of organisational skills and the ability to plan and execute a range of task independently.
Desirable: Enthusiasm for working within a childcare environment.
Communication Skills:
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with young children, parents and staff in a range of formats.
Desirable: Confident on paper and verbally. Good ICT skills. Have a sense of fun.
Interpersonal Skills: Ability to work as member of a team. Positive, motivating outlook and supportive of others.
Desirable: Effective listener and communicator. Tolerance of and supportive of others, be able to show empathy to others.
Ethos: Happy, caring, compassionate and friendly personality.
