Roles that require PVG Membership

Please note that with effect from 1 April 2023, where a role requires PVG membership, candidates will be required to meet the cost of the PVG membership. This applies only to roles with a full time equivalent salary of £30,000 and above. (Teaching roles and jobs at Grade 11 and above (currently £30,285 per annum / £16.64 per hour)

The Council will pay for the PVG membership cost initially, either £18 for existing PVG scheme members, or £59 for non-members, and this cost will be deducted from an employee’s first FULL month’s salary payment.

Job purpose/about the role

HDRC Aberdeen is one of the first wave of Health Determinants Research Collaborations funded by the National Institute for Health and Care Research in 2022. HDRC Aberdeen is led by Aberdeen City Council, in collaboration with The University of Aberdeen, Robert Gordon University, NHS Grampian, and Public Partners. With a focus on the social or wider determinants of health, HDRC Aberdeen has the overarching goal of developing a research active culture within Aberdeen City Council. The social or wider determinants of health are the non-medical factors that influence people’s health outcomes. They are the conditions in which people are born, grow, work, live, and age, and the wider set of forces and systems shaping daily life that include the broad social and economic circumstances which together influence the health of the population. The Council has a significant and diverse range of functions, powers and duties which play a role in shaping the social or wider determinants of health. The HDRC P&OD Advisor will lead the design, delivery, and evaluation of a training and culture change programme in support of the purpose of the NIHR Health Determinants Research Collaboration Aberdeen. This role will be hosted across two clusters and will benefit from the support of both teams. The HDRC Team whose purpose is to grow research active culture with Aberdeen City Council and Community Planning Aberdeen, and the People and Organisational Development Cluster, who have a corporate remit around organisational development, engagement and culture change. This is a fixed term, project-based role and as such key outcomes and milestones will be applicable.

Requirements

  • Associate Membership of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development or an equivalent qualification in Learning and Development or related field. (Please note that, due to the duration of the role, we would also welcome notes of interest from those who have an equivalent level of higher education in another related field)
  • Evidence of continuous professional development
  • Evidence of creating digital learning solutions to meet demand in an organisation 

Responsibilities

With reference to the People Development Team Remit, as a minimum the postholder should demonstrate skills and/or experience in:

  1. Designing and delivering effective and best practice learning and development interventions, applying the full Learning and Development lifecycle and learning theories such as instructional design using up-to-date digital and online learning methods
  2. Experience with the management and development of a Learning Management Systems (LMS) such as Moodle to enhance learning
  3. The use of data and appropriate insights to inform digital L&D interventions and to monitor effectiveness and improvement
  4. Coaching and/or mentoring as a practitioner, supervisor or developing organisation-wide programmes supporting others in further developing the digital tools.

 

In addition, you should demonstrate skills and/or experience in:

       5.  Building and maintaining successful working relationships at all levels in the organisation

      6. Problem-solving and responding appropriately in a variety of

      7. Critically evaluating information and developing practical business orientated solutions

      8. Facilitating customer-focused solutions

      9. Sharing knowledge and working collaboratively with others within the functional area and across the wider organization

      10. Consultancy and facilitation skills with demonstrable ability in influencing and coaching managers, with specific focus on encouraging managers and employees to become self-sufficient
