We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed Early Years Practitioner to join our ELC and P1 Team.
We welcome applications from experienced Early Years Practitioners who will support our work to ensure learners at Craigroyston Primary and ELC develop the knowledge, skills and attributes they need to demonstrate the four capacities of successful learners, confident individuals, responsible citizens and effective contributors.
The successful candidate will have experience of working in an ELC environment and will be willing to work flexibly in order to meet the needs of the service. Experience of working in P1 is not essential but may be required as part of the role. The successful candidate will be a team player who has experience of planning, facilitating and evaluating high quality learning experiences. Confidence in using available tools to assess children’s learning and identify next steps is essential. The successful candidate will be a competent user of ICT and have excellent communication skills.
Candidates will be expected to provide basic first aid and administer medication as appropriate. A suitable qualification in first aid or a willingness to undertake any necessary training is essential.
Our school, supported by AMEY, benefits from a diverse staff team with a range of experiences and interests. We have a pupil support team consisting of PSA, EYA, EYP, EYO and PSO practitioners, a vibrant ELC and 13 classes taught by a mixture of full time and part time teachers. The school has an experienced DHT, two PTs and welcomed a new HT in April 2022. We are proud of our diverse and vibrant community. Our school values ‘respect, ambition, resilience and empathy’ underpin our daily ambitions and long-term intentions. For more details, please visit our website www.craigroystonprimary.co.uk
This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
As part of our goal to improve our organisational culture and create a great place to work together for the people of Edinburgh, we want to make sure that we’re bringing the best people into our roles, not just in their skills and experience but also in their approach to work.
To help achieve this, we’re changing the way we interview and assess candidates by moving from a competency-based interview approach to a behavioural and technical (skills for the job) based approach. This new way of interviewing will allow us to assess how you think and how you would bring Our Behaviours of Respect, Integrity and Flexibility into your ways of working.
Requirements
We're committed to creating a workplace culture where all our people feel valued, included and able to be their best at work, and we recognise the benefits that a diverse workforce with different values, beliefs, experience, and backgrounds brings to us as an organisation.
