Headteacher Primary (7/10615)

Loreburn Primary School, Dumfries

HT05 £71,181

The school roll is currently 166 pupils. The school forms part of the Dumfries Academy cluster and is part of Dumfries Learning Town. The school is situated in Dumfries town centre and is very much at the centre of the community, working closely with all partner agencies. The management structure consists of a Headteacher and a Principal Teacher. The Headteacher position is non-class committed. This session the school has 7 mainstream classes.

The school has strong links with its cluster schools, the local church and local businesses. The school has an active parent council and fundraising group who work to support the pupils and staff as well as organising school-based events. This support, and positive interactions, enhances the learning provision for our diverse school community. The outgoing headteacher and the parent council have worked effectively together for many years.

Dumfries and Galloway’s approach to Education looks to combine the traditional values, ethos and atmosphere of this unique corner of Scotland with fresh 21st Century thinking. We are seeking to appoint a leader with vision and a passion for learning who will lead learning within Loreburn Primary School. The post represents an excellent opportunity to be innovative in developing our culture of sharing and learning. Applicants will have proven leadership qualities and experience in primary education and be committed to very high standards of achievement, as well as demonstrating the GTCS Standard for Headship.

Prospective applicants for the position are encouraged to attend an informal information session about the school via MS Teams. This session will be hosted by the current Headteacher and link Quality Improvement Officer and will provide an overview of key information about Loreburn Primary School and its unique context.
