You will be required to work 36 hours per week, 38 weeks per year

 

Job Purpose: This is a unique opportunity to work in a team with a specific role to support pupils and their families to overcome disadvantage and to maximise opportunities for young people.

This will involve supporting a specific group of pupils to help raise their attainment and increase their opportunities for personal achievement. The successful candidate will work to maximise wellbeing by supporting teaching and learning, working with families and one to one counselling.

 

The hours will be based around the school day, week and term time but not exclusively. Flexibility will be required for work during school holidays and after school hours.

This post is funded by Scottish Government Pupil Equity Funding (PEF). It is based within the Pupil Support Team (Pastoral and Support for Learning) working with pupils and their families.

This post is fixed term for up to 6 months.

This post may be suitable for secondment. Agreement from your line manager must be sought before applying for this post.

Requirements

A valid driving licence is required for this position.

This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.

 

Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.
