Our staff are highly effective classroom teachers, who are compassionate and committed to the attainment, achievement and wellbeing of our learners. Through their hard work, they provide our young people with a wide range of experiences that allow them to demonstrate and develop the skills for lifelong learning and the world of work.

A vacancy has arisen at St Joseph’s College for a Teacher with a focus on raising attainment, and whose duties will include the delivery of BGE lessons, mentorship of pupils in targeted groups and the tracking of attainment of those learners they support. As such, a background in English teaching would be desirable, although all applicants will be considered. Successful candidates will also undertake teacher duties as per SNCT handbook Part 2: Section 2. As such, we would welcome interest from suitably experienced and registered primary and secondary applicants.

This is a temporary full-time position from January 2025 to June 2025 This post may be suitable for secondment.  Agreement from your line manager must be sought before applying for this post.

Applicants for teaching posts must be registered with the General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS), Clerwood House, 96 Clermiston Road, Edinburgh, EH12 6UT in the appropriate sector.

 

This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.

 

Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.
