An opportunity is offered for a suitably qualified and experienced teacher to apply for the role of Teacher of history and/or modern studies at the Castle Douglas High School/Dalry Secondary School partnership.
The successful candidate will be part of a team who will shape how history and/or modern studies are delivered to benefit the pupils, their parents and the community the schools serve. Both schools are on a journey to being recognised as nurturing schools and the successful candidate will have the opportunity to help shape how that nurture approach is evident within the social studies Department.
The Castle Douglas High School/Dalry Secondary School partnership would like to recruit a talented and committed Teacher who will bring a great deal of enthusiasm to this role. Applicants should be confident and able to demonstrate they are an experienced and innovative practitioner. They should have a sound and detailed knowledge and understanding of relevant aspects of Curriculum for Excellence 2-18 and be able to demonstrate they have a commitment to the vision, values and core priorities in the development of education, teaching and learning which meets the needs of all pupils.
The successful applicant will support and be supported to deliver high quality educational experiences and contribute to the positive management of the school by modelling the school aims and values to maximise and recognise the attainment and achievement of all of our young people.
The post is a temporary post, covering maternity leave of up to one year. It is expected that the post will commence in January 2025.
This position may be suitable for a Secondment. Agreement from your line manager must be sought before applying for this post on a secondment basis.
Applicants for teaching posts must be registered with the General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS), Clerwood House, 96 Clermiston Road, Edinburgh, EH12 6UT in the appropriate sector.
This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.
Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.
