Job Description

We are looking for people who are caring, flexible and enthusiastic about helping others to assist and support vulnerable people with personal and social care, encouraging independence, allowing them to remain in their own homes within their communities in order to assist with the promotion, delivery and integration of the Health & Social Care Partnerships key objectives and the Council’s Community Plan.

No previous formal care experience is required. Suitable candidates may have personal experience with family and friends that can be transferable skills. Full induction training will be provided.

Temporary contracts can be flexible with either day shift of back shift posts available.

Roles include:
Community Care Officer - caring role in the community
Intermediate Care and Enablement team - providing enablement
Home from Hospital team - supporting hospital discharge and end of life
Community Alarms team - emergency response carers

Requirements

Important Information for those who hold a conditional registration with the SSSC requiring completion of the SVQ2 qualification

Only applicants with a minimum of 6 months remaining on their conditional registration are eligible to apply.

For those applicants who have between 6-18 months conditional registration remaining, East Ayrshire Health & Social Care Partnership will be unable to fund your qualification as priority must be given to existing staff. In this case, you will be issued with a fixed term contract which will end no later than the day your conditional registration ends. If you are already self-funding your qualification, support will be offered to meet your observation requirements.

For applicants who have over 18 months remaining on your conditional registration, you will be added to our internal staff waiting list where funding and support will be provided to assist you in completing your qualification.

 

Responsibilities

The duties of the post involve Regulated Work with children and/or protected adults, as specified in the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Successful applicants for such posts will be required to become a Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme member in respect of Regulated Work with either or both of these groups as appropriate, or if they are already a Scheme member, be subject to a PVG Scheme Record Update, before any formal offer of employment can be made by East Ayrshire Council.

 

Please note:- PVG members' records are constantly updated with any new vetting information that arises. Any information that is disclosed on a PVG Scheme Record or Scheme Record Update, if relevant to the post being applied for, will be discussed with the applicant prior to any formal offer of employment being made.

The Individual

We follow the national guidance in relation to pre-employment checks namely “Safer Recruitment Through Better Recruitment”. With regards to requests for references and in line with this guidance, during your application process you should provide details of a minimum of two appropriate and relevant references, one of which should be from your current or most recent employer. It is also a requirement that the reference from your current or most recent employer is from an appropriate senior manager and it is not a reference from a former peer operating at the same level.
