East Lothian Council has 7 Secondary Schools. It is a small but highly ambitious Education Service, looking for a motivated, inspirational leader with a proven track record in quality improvement leading to improved outcomes.

This post is specifically to provide support and challenge in Secondary Education, to support the service to continue to raise attainment and achievement, as well as develop Secondary Curriculum in line with national developments and local requirements. The successful candidate will be adept at collating a range of performance information about secondary schools and can evidence that they can use this information in a systematic way to inform improvements in performance. They will have experience in analysing and using performance information to challenge schools to improve. The post holder will support and monitor the key processes associated with secondary improvement planning and all other aspects associated with National Improvement Framework. They will have experience in supporting Education Scotland inspection processes and any associated follow up activity, a well as local school reviews. They will lead the development of approaches to raising attainment and closing the poverty related attainment gap in Secondary BGE and Senior Phase. They will evidence that they can identify effective and innovative practice within and out with East Lothian and share this effectively to ensure maximum impact. The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to career long professional learning opportunities within the improvement agenda. They will be knowledgeable about local and national priorities particularly within Secondary Education and will have experience in ensuring that these are being taken forward appropriately by schools.

Job Requirements

Relevant Qualifications
Current GTCS registration.
Educated to Degree level or Equivalent

Driving Licence 
As the duties of this role require you to effectively travel to successfully undertake the full remit of the role, you must hold a current driving licence and have access to a vehicle.*

PVG Membership
