Job Description
Role – Subject Access Officer (Business Development)
Location – GCHSCP, Commonwealth House, 32 Albion Street, Glasgow, G1 1LH
Contract Status – Temporary, up to 18 months
We are pleased to be able to offer an exciting opportunity to work for the largest local authority in Scotland, in partnership with the NHS, to help ensure the data rights of our service users, past and present.
The Complaints, Freedom of Information (FOI) and Investigations Team (CFIT) within the Business Development section of Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership (GCHSCP) handle complaints administration and responses, FOI responses and duties under the Data Protection Act 2018, including providing guidance to the wider business in relation to Data Protection matters.
We are seeking dedicated individuals to join a new temporary specialist team within CFIT for up to 18-months. This role offers a rare opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge in UK data protection legislation and learn about Social Work Services, while making a positive impact on the lives of vulnerable people.
Reporting directly to a Senior Officer, you will be responsible for carrying out work relating to Subject Access Requests received by Social Work Services. This will involve the collection, collation, review and redaction of highly sensitive documentation, in line with the requirements of Data Protection legislation, for the purpose of assisting the service to meet statutory timescales for response to Subject Access Requests.
Candidates should have experience of Data Protection related work, with appropriate knowledge to support the interpretation and application of Data Protection legislation. While not essential, some knowledge of Social Work Services and the key legislation underpinning Social Work functions would also be invaluable to any candidate.
Candidates should also be self-motivated and enthusiastic, with the ability to communicate effectively and confidently.
Key Responsibilities:
Carrying out complex redaction activity in line with statutory requirements.
Ensuring the confidentiality and security of sensitive information.
Engaging in meaningful work that directly supports vulnerable individuals.
Delivering processes in compliance with UK data protection legislation.
Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to deliver statutory duties.
What We Offer:
An intellectually stimulating environment that encourages learning and development.
Hands-on experience with real-world applications of data protection legislation and the opportunity to develop an understanding of social work and working within Scotland’s largest local authority.
The chance to make a tangible difference and to have a positive impact in the lives of our service users.
A supportive team culture with opportunities to learn.
This role is ideal for someone who is eager to expand their expertise in data protection. You'll be an important part of a specialist team dedicated to ensuring the rights of those with current or previous involvement with Social Work Services, all while gaining invaluable experience and knowledge. You’ll also have the opportunity to make a meaningful positive impact on the lives of service users past and present, and we will provide you with skills and experience to support career progression within the area of Data Protection.
These roles are excepted under Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exclusions and Exceptions) (Scotland) Order 2013 (as amended).
Interviews will take place week commencing 2nd June 2025.
