Job Description
An opportunity has arisen within Glasgow City Council to join and lead our Environmental Strategy team in the role of Group Manager. Reporting to the Head of Waste Management & Recycling, you will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of environmental strategies to support the delivery of frontline services across the city. In addition, the postholder will also have the responsibility for the management of the GRREC Partnership and other waste related contracts.
Successful candidates must be able to design and implement future development of services demonstrating a strategic approach and vision to deliver service improvements. You should have strong communication, report writing and negotiation skills and be able to plan, allocate and organise work to provide agreed service and standards.
You will have a proven ability to lead and develop a team in the successful management and governance of complex contracts and be able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of waste management processes
You need to have a degree (or equivalent) in a Business, Finance, Science, Legal or Engineering discipline. It is desirable for you to be a member of a professional institute.
