Living Here

Whatever you picture, you’ll find it here. From one of the fastest growing cities in Scotland, perched picturesquely on the banks of the river Tay to the peace and tranquillity of country life, Perth and Kinross has everything to offer. Perth (home to our Council head quarters), set in the heart of Scotland, offers the very best of both worlds with the vibe of city life and escape close at hand. The city is the area’s hub, providing a thriving cultural scene including Perth Concert Hall (Scotland’s newest) which regularly hosts some of the biggest names in music and comedy, great restaurants, big name shops as well as many independent retail outlets, leisure opportunities and nightlife.

Further afield, you’ll find stunning scenery and peaceful towns and villages. Perthshire is known as Big Tree Country so it’s hardly surprising that the area is home to some of Scotland’s finest landscapes. There are Munros to bag, riverside paths to explore and a whole host of action packed outdoor activities to enjoy including world class fishing, great cycle routes and an unsurpassed range of golf courses to satisfy all abilities, including the 2014 Ryder Cup host Gleneagles.

The city’s stunning location and strategic position is at the very heart of Scotland’s road, rail and air transport networks, making Perth within easy reach of Edinburgh, Glasgow and Stirling. And, as you’d expect from an area often called the gateway to the Highlands, great skiing (and much more besides) is also within reach.

As a city region, we have always been ambitious, with everything on offer from farmers’ markets to major sporting events, it’s no surprise that over 140,000 people think that Perth and Kinross is a great place to work and live. We think you might just agree!
