Role Purpose

Adult Support and Protection - Adult Protection Officer / Quality Assurance

The post holder will be a member of the Adult Protection Unit team and contribute to the operational consistency of all adults at risk of harm in the Scottish Borders. This role will primarily focus on quality assurance and service development practice. It will involve supporting staff undertaking investigations and at times acting as a Council Officer under the Adult Support & Protection (Scotland) Act 2007.

Furthermore the APO role can include supporting the team to cover a range of functions from duty/intake work, leading inter-agency discussions with public protection partner agencies, chairing statutory case conferences

Essential

Applicants must be a one year post Qualified Social Worker, Nurse or Occupational Therapist with Adult Support and Protection Council Officer Experience.

Adult Support & Protection services within Scottish Borders are delivered within a framework of inter-agency guidance developed in partnership with Scottish Borders Council, NHS Borders and Lothian and Borders Police. An Joint Public Protection Committee has been established to provide high level multi-agency oversight of policies and professional practice. The Adult Protection Unit complements the work of the Committee by bringing operational consistency and safety to managing decisions on risk and the threshold for statutory intervention. This post will contribute to the Adult Support & Protection service in the Scottish Borders within the framework outlined in the Adult Support & Protection (Scotland) Act 2007.
