Recruitment Profile
An opportunity has arisen for a Planning Officer within the Planning Policy & GIS team. Reporting to the Planning Policy Lead Officer, you will be responsible for the preparation, monitoring and review of planning policy for the Scottish Borders. This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join the team, as we begin work on the next Local Development Plan (LDP). You will join a dedicated team comprising of a Research Officer, Planning Officers, Community Place Planning & Regeneration Officers and GIS specialists. The duties and responsibilities within this role are wide ranging and include the production of the Local Development Plan, Supplementary Planning Guidance, Planning Briefs and undertaking annual research/monitoring work. The post holder will play a vital role in shaping the future policy and development allocations for the Scottish Borders. For progression to Grade 9A, membership of RTPI or equivalent is required.
Essential
• Degree (or Diploma) in Town Planning, or
• Degree (or Diploma) in a field closely related to town planning with direct experience in working within town planning.
A current driving licence and use of a vehicle is an essential requirement of this post. * If you have a disability which precludes you from holding a drivers licence, Scottish Borders Council will take into account its responsibility to make reasonable adjustments to allow for your disability.
