The post holder reports to the Programme Manager of Children’s Social Work and is responsible through the appropriate Project Board for undertaking a range of activities timeously contributing to the successful completion of Shetland’s Bairns’ Hoose project. The post holder is responsible for leading and developing the aims and objectives for local implementation of the Scottish Bairns’ Hoose Standards. The post holder will also undertake research and analysis activities to support the overall management of the project including service development and improvements based on the principles of coproduction.

The post is funded by the Scottish Government’s Bairns’ Hoose Development Fund which enables partnerships to design and test local, context-specific approaches to implementing the Bairns’ Hoose Standards. These new national Standards seek to improve children, young people and families’ experiences of child protection. Bairns’ Hoose is Scotland’s approach to the Icelandic ‘Barnahus’, which means ‘children’s house,’ offering holistic, child-centred support to those who have been victims or witnesses of abuse, and to children under the age of criminal responsibility whose behaviour has caused harm.

Bairns’ Hoose is all about connecting services around the needs of the child by collaborating across agencies and disciplines, prioritising trauma-informed practice to support the child’s recovery in a safe, respectful, friendly, and welcoming environment.

Salary shown in the advert is inclusive of Distant Islands Allowance of £2,859 per annum (pro rata)
Temporary Full Time post for 37.0 Hours per Week , 52.18 weeks per year
Temporary contract for a period of approximately 12 months (possible extension subject to continued funding)
Preferred candidates will be required to join the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update prior to a formal offer of employment being made
A relocation package does not apply to this post
