An exciting opportunity has arisen in South Lanarkshire Roads, Transportation and Fleet services for a Team Leader.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to join our Roads Structures Team.
Playing a vitally important role in delivering commitments associated with the Council’s extensive roads structures asset, the main duties include the preparation and delivery of capital and revenue funded projects, the routine bridge inspection regime, ensuring all works are carried out in accordance with appropriate health and safety requirements and handling routine and statutory enquiries including those from Elected Members and the public.
You must have knowledge and experience of technical aspects of this area of work.
Experience in the development and delivery of bridges and other roads structures related projects, both major and minor, is essential, including the procurement and financial monitoring required.
Whilst working as part of the wider roads team you should additionally be able to work individually to specific deadlines and direction.
A commitment t customer focus, service delivery and responsiveness will be vital as will the ability to commit to our constant efforts to refine, innovate and improve service delivery.
You must hold a current driver’s licence as you will be expected to travel throughout the Council area.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a specialist team tasked with taking forward a number of important capital and revenue funded priorities.

Efficient – What knowledge do you have of the roads structures functions undertaken by a Roads Authority, give examples from your experience. Please also provide details in relation to your experience in preparing a structures revenue and capital programme on a limited budget.

Please highlight any challenges you encountered and the steps you took to overcome them.
Performing – Are there any areas of innovation and technology that the Council should embrace to help improve the way in which road authorities deliver services with the sole aim of improving the roads structure asset to improve its resilience. Please discuss with relevant examples from your own experience.
Flexible – If your application for this post is successful, what do you see as the personal qualities that you will bring to the role of the Roads Structure Team.
