The posts are fixed term until 01/02/2026.
The salary will be pro-rata'd to the hours worked.
In partnership with Working4U, the Active Schools Team within West Dunbartonshire Leisure Trust are looking to recruit four young people from West Dunbartonshire as Active Schools Modern Apprentices. This is an exciting opportunity for young people who are motivated to gain skills, knowledge an experience in the Sports and Education sector. Candidates will undertake a SVQ Level 2 qualification in Sports Coaching (SCQF Level 6), in addition to other generic and sport - specific related awards and qualifications.
Working within different primary schools across West Dunbartonshire, the successful candidates will provide targeted physical activity support to small groups of children aged P1 - P3 and support PE delivery. They will also provide a range of extra-curricular activities across P1 - P7 during lunchtime and after-school and support the delivery of school sports holiday sports camps.
To be considered for one of these exciting positions, you need to meet the following criteria and personal characteristics:
• School leaver aged between 16 – 24 years of age
• Reside in West Dunbartonshire
• Be registered through Working4U as having barriers to employment
• Have a high level of motivation to learn and develop coaching and leadership skills
• Enjoy working with children and young people
• Be enthusiastic about physical activity and sport, and recognise the benefits that participation provides
• Be organised with good time management and
• Be eligible for Skills Development Scotland Modern Apprenticeship funding
Successful candidates will need to be registered with Working4U and the recruitment team are particularly interested in receiving applications from young people who have come through THRIVE.

Requirements
This post is considered as Regulated Work with Children under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007 and as such membership with the PVG scheme is essential. Further details of this scheme can be found here.
Preferred applicants will be required to become members of the relevant PVG scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer being made by West Dunbartonshire Council.
Responsibilities
The employment for which you are applying is excepted from the provisions of section 4 (2) of the Rehabilitation of Offenders (Exceptions) Order 1975.
