Glasgow Caledonian University’s IT department is a central professional service department that provides IT services to all GCU campuses across the UK and USA. The IT department supports the University by delivering technology-based services for research, teaching and learning, to enable on and off-campus learning and engagement.
We are currently seeking a Senior IT Advisor who will join the Desktop / AV team to play a key role in delivering technical support, diagnosing and resolving hardware and software issues, and ensuring the seamless operation of IT / AV systems across the organization.
The role holder will contribute to an effective and professional IT service, by supporting the function of the team, sharing knowledge and expertise; and providing line management where appropriate.

The role holder will contribute to an effective and professional IT service, by supporting the function of the team, sharing knowledge and expertise; and providing line management where appropriate. Experience in data centre hardware troubleshooting and maintenance, including replacement of equipment and power supplies is essential along with experience in leading and contributing to projects as a technical lead with excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
The successful candidate should hold a degree or recognised IT/Information qualification and/or equivalent relevant experience. Working as a Senior IT Advisor, the role holder will have the ability to understand and interpret user requirements and provide appropriate advice and guidance. Furthermore, they should also have the ability to organise, prioritise and manage multiple activities at any one time, delivering effectively in a busy environment.
Ideally, the successful candidate would have experience of ITIL processes and knowledge of ITSM/ I.T. project management.
