KTP Associate will be an employee of Glasgow Caledonian University but will be based at Haleon with regular supervision meetings with the University’s supervisory team

This is a full time/fixed term opportunity for 24 months

An additional £4,000 training and development budget is available for this opportunity

The Role

The Associate will play a pivotal role in the development of a long-term capability aimed at advancing the implementation of the oral microbiome into the oral healthcare pipeline. This position will be instrumental in driving innovation in oral care, with focus on developing targeted product design around the oral microbiome, informed by cutting-edge science.

The Associate will build relationships with a wide range of Haleon stakeholders to enable the delivery of microbiome into the commercial world. It is essential the Associate demonstrates independence to drive critical relationships.

This role offers the opportunity to contribute to a long-term strategic vision in an emerging area of scientific discovery, with the potential to redefine the future of oral care. The duties and responsibilities will focus on creating an expert oral microbiome hub within Haleon.

The essential criteria for this role is listed below;

  • Strong background in oral microbiology and the application of biodigital technologies (microbiome and bioinformatics) obtained during advanced study. Ideally, they will be educated to PhD level, or at least an MSc related to Oral Sciences.
  • An understanding of the application and interpretation of microbiome data and variety of analysis software platforms
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate complex information at all levels.
  • Proven capabilities of delivering projects with defined deliverables and have up to 2 years of direct industrial experience, or at least 5 years of indirect industrial experience obtained through academic routes.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team. Drive and flexibility to work remotely using IT platforms, or through in-person meetings around the UK.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and prioritise own schedule.

Experience of working in a commercial environment and/or a wide range of external stakeholders is desirable.
