St Philip’s School provides specialist Residential Care and Education to young people aged 10 – 18 years, who have a range of additional support needs, including social, emotional and behavioural development. St Philip’s School ensure all young people utilising our services are supported in a nurtured and trauma informed way and follow The Promise for Scotland’s children and young people.

St Philip’s School are seeking to appoint a hands on and motivated Finance Officer.

Responsibilities:

The role includes, but is not limited, to the following responsibilities.

· ·Preparation of annual budget for St Philip’s school and its associated companies, prior to review by central office.

· Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost reduction.

· Monitor the organisation’s financial performance against budget and forecasts, providing regular updates to Senior Management and the Board of Directors.

· Supervise and mentor the administration team.

· Check and code invoices prior to submission to central office for processing and payment

· Disbursement and Reimbursement of petty cash on a weekly basis.

· Uploading credit card transactions & reconciliation

· Processing all aspects of payroll including starters/leavers and pension administration prior to submission to central office for processing checks and payment.

· Purchase ledger tasks as required

·Following up and dealing with supplier queries and investigating discrepancies

· Supporting the HR and Administration functions with annual leave, PVG records and all other associated tasks.

· Organise and negotiate all telephone contracts for the school’s services and staff

·Oversee the administration of new school vehicles and associated tasks with insurers etc

Skills:

· Proficiency in Sage Accounting and all Microsoft Office 365 software

· Knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting processes

· Knowledge of payroll administration and processes

· Knowledge and understanding of the issues and complexities in handling large sums of cash for distribution to the various school departments.

· Strong numerical and analytical skills

· Attention to detail and accuracy in financial data entry

· Good organisational and time management abilities

· Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

· Ability to work effectively in a team environment

· Knowledge of financial regulations and compliance

· Relevant procurement experience

Qualifications:

· At least Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework level 7 (Advanced Higher / Scottish Vocational Qualification level 3, Higher National Certificate) or equivalent, and experience of personal development in a similar or relevant role.

· Desirable qualification-Part Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
