Teaching Assistant at Starley Hall

Who are we?

Starley Hall provides 52-week residential care and education placements for children and young people with complex Additional Support Needs. They may present with neurodevelopmental challenges associated with Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and/or learning disabilities and may have experienced significant adversity and trauma, leading to attachment difficulties.

Our school can offer placements for primary and secondary aged children and young people. This can be for day pupils and for joint education and care placements.

We have an extensive, multi-disciplinary adult group that is experienced in working with vulnerable young people with complex Additional Support Needs, who may have attachment issues, have experienced complex trauma, or have diagnoses including ADHD, ASD, and mild to moderate learning disabilities.

Our school, and main residential provision and accommodation, is situated near Burntisland, Fife in grounds, which allow young people to experience the outdoors and participate in the life of neighbouring villages.

Within our school at Starley Hall, we embrace the Six Principles of Nurture. Our intention is to provide a safe and stable education provision where young people can be themselves, developing and maintaining positive relationships with both adults and peers, and where all young people have opportunities to achieve and experience success. Our school received the National Nurturing Schools Award in July 2024.

Who are we looking for?

We are currently looking to appoint a Teaching Assistant to join our team on a full-time permanent basis. We would also consider candidates interested in part-time only.

Our Teaching Assistants are involved in supporting and leading learning experiences and activities within both the BGE and the Senior Phase. All Teaching Assistants are actively involved in being part of multi-disciplinary key teams for our young people and play a vital role in delivering the highest standards of education and care to children and young people. The successful candidate will have a role in our Health and Wellbeing programme, including actively supporting our physical activity programmes, both on and off-site.

While prior experience of working within a similar role or capacity is preferred, it is not essential. A Job Description and Person Specification are available from the links below. A full driving licence is required.

All appointments are subject to a PVG scheme check and references, and a six-month probationary period. Salaries are on a six-point scale running from £21,175 to £27,807 based on a 37.5 hour working week (depending on experience/qualifications).

Prior to applying, or if you would like further information, you are welcome to have an informal discussion with Jim Morrison, Head of Education, on 01383 860314.

Please request an application pack through our web form at https://www.starleyhall.co.uk/contact-us or by phone on 01383 830314.
