The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service would like to invite applications for the post of Performance Officer based in Training, Safety & Assurance Directorate on a temporary basis. This is a part-time opportunity, working 21 hours per week, for a duration of 23 months, however, applications from individuals seeking to work on a flexible working basis would be considered.
The successful candidate will be required to work conjunction with the E-Systems Project Officer to generate, collate and analyse data sets from various electronic systems. They will contribute to the creation of Performance Reports which will be distributed to various key stakeholders. Reporting to the E-Systems Project Officer, they will be responsible for providing guidance on existing analytics, making recommendations for process improvements and offering innovative solutions in the implementation of change, often working within defined timelines The post holder will be required to follow a business planning cycle but remain flexible on acute demands. They will have autonomy to work on a range of complex business matters, escalating to the E-Systems Project Officer as needed.
Applicants are required to be educated to HNC level in a relevant subject or equivalent experience. Have analytical and problem-solving skills; be able to recognise recuring patterns or significant shifts that indicate a direction change, be innovative, and be able to prepare, cleanse and explore new data and to present analysis in an easy to understand way using charts, graphs and infographics. Communication skills; have the ability to clearly communicate key findings of complicated analysis to a wide range of audiences. Data management skills; have the ability to administer and report from information systems and determine whether the information is accurate and fit for purpose, joining different data together where needed. Data Visualisation skills; have the ability to visualise data and share results with a clear narrative that will have a high impact. You should be able to develop dashboards using modern BI solutions. Project management and organisational skills and the ability to prioritise; have the ability to work on your own initiative with minimal supervision, and have personal resilience and the capacity to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines, whilst maintaining accuracy and attention to detail. Proven IT and mathematical skills; be proficient in the use of MS Office, notably Pivot tables using Excel, Word, Teams and SharePoint. Stakeholder management; be able to develop good working relationships with Senior Leadership, managers, partner organisations and colleagues.

Salary on appointment will normally be at the lower salary point, with progression subject to regular review - in line with the SFRS performance appraisal arrangements. A higher salary placing will be considered in exceptional circumstances subject to experience demonstrated.
