British Association of Social Workers
The British Association of Social Workers (BASW) is the professional association for social work and social workers in the United Kingdom. We are the independent voice of social work. We champion social work and help members achieve the highest professional standards. The BASW Code of Ethics has underpinned social work practice since 1975. BASW has a strong presence in each of the four home nations. Running events, campaigns and initiatives and many other opportunities to get involved. With its Headquarters in Birmingham, BASW has offices in England, Northern Ireland and Scotland. We’re here to promote the best possible social work services for all people who may need them, while also securing the wellbeing of social workers. In 2011 BASW established an arm’s length trade union, the Social Workers Union (SWU) which together with our Advice & Representation Service offers a range of services to improve the protection of our members in the workplace. With over 22,000 members we are the independent voice of social work, we champion social work and help members achieve the highest professional standards in their social work practice and career.
