The Association was formed in 1991 taking over from an initiative rolled out by the Headquarters of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award in Scotland, called the Perth & Kinross Industrial Project which had run from 1983. The Association is a charity, registered with the Office of the Scottish Charity regulator, SC021937. We have a management board of 9 people currently, these are volunteers who fill the essential roles, and drive the direction of the organisation. Originally the main function of the Association was to give support to all Award groups and Licenced Organisations delivering the Award within the Perth & Kinross Area to a wide variety of young people.

Much of that still continues to this day, we have also moved with the times and grown and developed to be able to better assist the groups. The Association employs between 2 and 3 people at any one time, as money and demand for services dictate. We now organise the training of our volunteers, at the National Governing Body stage of development and provide financial support to fund these courses, when money allows. We also deliver the full range of Duke of Edinburgh’s Award specific courses which are available to volunteers and people working with the Award as their remit.
