Inverclyde Community Development Trust

Inverclyde Community Development Trust has over a quarter century of experience in providing a wide range of services and support to the people of Inverclyde.

Our mission statement is very straightforward: "Create jobs. Remove barriers. Provide services."

We contribute to the overall economic development of Inverclyde by providing or creating jobs for people from disadvantaged groups and areas.

 

The Trust run the Volunteer Centre Inverclyde as part of Scottish Governments 3rd Sector Interface, providing support to local services through matched volunteer opportunities and also developing and delivering a range of volunteering opportunities linked to our own programmes and projects.

 

We also deliver befriending services, contracted via Inverclyde Council Social Work Department.

 

The Trust owns and operates several premises and community hubs throughout the area, with central bases in Greenock and Port Glasgow. 7½ John Wood Street provides a Port Glasgow hub for social, cultural and economic regeneration activity to take place, while Port Glasgow Business and Training Centre is the focal point for our vocational training programmes and social enterprise development. The Trust has recently purchased The Dutch Gable House, the oldest building in Greenock, to develop it into a new hub for culture, learning and enterprise activity.

 

While our employability programmes and community hubs are the lynchpin services of the organisation, we also develop and run a range of community projects which allow local volunteers and school pupils to get involved in their community, often using cultural activities as the basis for engagement and related informal learning
