We aim to be the best.
We are ambitious for our area and, working with our partners, we aim to grow the economy and our population for the future. In order to do this, and to deliver the best services we can, we need to employ the best people possible - people who care about the community they're part of and who want to help make it better - people with the drive and ambition to make things happen. We need people who care about Argyll and Bute and its citizens and who are committed to making a difference to them.
We are an equal opportunity and disability confident employer. We embrace diversity, are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees. We are under-represented in respect of a number of groups and welcome applications from all members across the community.
Our Single Outcome Agreement sets out the key objective to build a prosperous economy and a growing population. We share this with our partners in the public, private and third sector. We make the best use of the resources that we have through working closely with Councillors and members of the wider community and to make real changes to the lives of people in Argyll and Bute.
We serve the second largest local authority region in Scotland and aim to provide great service to everyone in the region, whether they live in the heart of a busy town or on a remote island croft.
The work we do impacts on the lives of everyone who lives in the region. Whenever they need to register a birth, enrol a child in school, pay their Council Tax, order a wheelie bin or secure planning permission, we're there for them.
We employ people in a variety of roles, from frontline staff to support staff, as well as jointly with our partner authorities and agencies. Our team operates across a range of urban and rural locations in areas spanning the spectrum from manual to executive roles.
Whatever the role, wherever it's based, everyone in our team is supported throughout their career, thanks to our training and development programmes. Which range from SVQs and apprenticeships through to our Management and Leadership development programme. There are many benefits available to Argyll and Bute Council employees including competitive salaries, provision of the living wage, generous annual leave, an employee benefits scheme offering savings designed to help physical, financial and mental wellbeing, final salary pension (career average from April 2015) and Group Life Assurance schemes, the option of flexible working patterns or job share (depending on their roles) and, where appropriate car lease schemes and other allowances.
